SEPANG, Malaysia. Max Verstappen claimed victory in the Bahrain Grand Prix held at the Sepang circuit. The Red Bull driver crossed the finish line first in a result that placed three different teams on the podium.

Kimi Antonelli, driving for Mercedes, finished second. Lewis Hamilton took third for Ferrari. Charles Leclerc finished fourth and Isack Hadjar fifth, according to the final race classification.

Rain delayed the start and added uncertainty to the race. Verstappen turned his performance into a win at a circuit he already knew: he also won there in 2017, when Sepang was on the calendar as the Malaysian Grand Prix.

The result put Red Bull on top, Mercedes in second and Ferrari on the third step of the podium. Antonelli earned a strong result in a demanding race, while Hamilton added another podium to his Ferrari season.

Top five:

1st Max Verstappen — Red Bull

2nd Kimi Antonelli — Mercedes

3rd Lewis Hamilton — Ferrari

4th Charles Leclerc — Ferrari

5th Isack Hadjar — Red Bull
