FORMULA 1 IN SEPANG: THE BAHRAIN GRAND PRIX COMES TO MALAYSIA
Formula 1 returns to Sepang for an exceptional edition of the Bahrain Grand Prix; Max Verstappen starts from pole and the result was still pending at the close.
Formula 1 returns to Malaysia for an exceptional event: the Sepang International Circuit hosts the Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia from October 2 to 4. The test occupies a unique place on the 2026 calendar and returns the category to Sepang.
Formula 1 and the FIA announced that Malaysia would host the Bahrain race. The agreement between both countries allowed the test to be kept on the calendar and organized in one of the most recognizable circuits in Southeast Asia.
Max Verstappen took pole position. At press time, the official results page still did not show the final standings, so the newspaper does not anticipate a winner or present unconfirmed race data.
The weekend also tests the logistical capacity of teams, organization and circuit: changing the venue requires coordinating transportation, assembly, security and attention to fans in a reduced time window.
The race returns Sepang to the center of the Formula 1 conversation. The follow-up must distinguish this season's one-off announcement from any future decisions on the permanent calendar.
