US stocks rose on Friday, October 2 after a weaker than expected employment report, Reuters reported. Nasdaq led daily gains; European stock markets also registered gains. In bonds, yields rose again during the week.

Employment. Reuters reported 29,000 new jobs in the US monthly data, compared to a forecast of 90,000 cited in its report. The data revises expectations, but is not enough to define the direction of the economy.

Market reading. Investors monitor inflation, energy prices, public debt and central bank decisions. The price of an asset reflects changing expectations and can reverse quickly.
